Dream Team Commitment: We Seek to Honor God by the Way in Which We Live

Following Jesus is much more than a single momentary decision. It is an act of daily surrender to Gods will, His word, and His ways. Scripture instructs us to “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2nd Peter 3:18).

This relationship with Christ results in continual transformation. As members of the Discovery Dream Team, we strive to Honor God and reflect Jesus not only at Church, but also at Home, in our Marriage, at work, and in our community.

While not perfect, we endeavor to always be growing in our faith, character and relationship with Christ. While we may at times struggle with temptation and sin, we commit to not linger in temptation, or become entrapped in a lifestyle of sin.

Dream Team Honor Code

As an essential part of the Discovery Church Leadership family, you have a responsibility to develop and exhibit mature Christian behavior. This should be the basic premise of your desire to participate in a Servant/Leader position here at Discovery Church.

While serving the Body of Christ as a leader at Discovery Church, you pledge to present a good appearance at all times. In both attire and behavior, you should strive to demonstrate Biblical standards in all situations.

As Christians, the way we present ourselves to others is of vital importance to the way others perceive Christ. Our conduct should never be an embarrassment to Christ, but should exemplify the best qualities of a mature believer and Servant/Leader.

Exemplifying the highest moral commitment, Discovery Church leaders are to maintain a disciplined life of Bible reading, prayer and fasting. You must also refrain from such things as:

1. profanity
2. smoking, chewing tobacco, vaping
3. gambling
4. indulging in much wine or other alcoholic beverages
5. dishonest gain
6. illegal drugs
7. pornography
8. sexual immorality, and
9. all behaviors which might cause Christ to grieve and others to stumble.

By providing an example in speech and action, we encourage others to grow in Christ and become Servants/Leaders themselves. This is a way of life measured by the heart and commitment of each leader in the Discovery Church family. We should regard it as an essential part of our development, not as an imposition or restriction.

Qualifications & Leadership Commitment of a Discovery Church Member

“The same goes for those who want to be servants in the church: serious, not deceitful, not too free with the bottle, not in it for what they can get out of it. They must be reverent before the mystery of the faith, not using their position to try to run things. Let them prove themselves first. If they show they can do it, take them on. No exceptions are to be made for women—same qualifications: serious, dependable, not sharp-tongued, not overfond of wine. Servants in the church are to be committed to their spouses, attentive to their own children, and diligent in looking after their own affairs. Those who do this servant work will come to be highly respected, a real credit to this Jesus-faith.”

Discovery Kids Team

DKIDS teams at Discovery help our children build a strong biblical foundation, engage in community with friends and leaders, and develop a love for the church. Commitment: Twice monthly Time Frame: Sundays or Wednesdays (2 hours) CHECK IN TEAM Our team facilitates the check - in process in DKIDS to ensure children are cared for effectively and efficiently. ELEMENTARY TEAM Our team invests in the lives of the children in K-5th grade through worship, biblical teaching, groups, and games. JUNIORS TEAM Our team invests in the lives of children from 3-PreK through worship, biblical teaching, groups, and games NURSERY TEAM Our nursery ministry to children through bible stories, worship, prayer, hands-on activities, and personal interactions. SPECIAL BLESSINGS BUDDY TEAM Our team serves children with special needs, providing specific and intentional care.

Discovery Outreach Team

Our Outreach Team works with the community to build relationships, help people in need and get people connected with Discovery Church.

DISCOVERY HELPS FOOD PANTRY
Our team welcomes people visiting the food pantry, assists with inputting their information, and makes grocery bags for them to take home.

Discovery Students Team

Discovery Students team walk with students as they navigate through life, learning to stand confident and strong in the lord. Environments are created where students feel welcomed and loved through intentional services, engaging worship and Christ centered messages.

ADULT LEADER
Out teams purpose is to build real relationships with students, mentor them in their faith, and create a safe, welcoming environment. We ask that you show up consistently, engage with students intentionally, and model what it looks like to follow Jesus. Your presence makes a lasting impact in the lives of the next generation.
Commitment: Every Week
Time Frame: Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:30 PM (2.5 hours)

PRODUCTION TEAM
Our team facilitates a powerful worship experience through the use of lighting, video technology, and audio engineering.
Commitment: Monthly as requested
Time Frame: Wednesday evening from 6:45-8:30 PM

Discovery Worship Team

Our team serves the church by providing a powerful, on stage worship experience through utilizing the skills of vocalists and instrumentalists.

Connections Teams

Connections Teams are an essential part of making Discovery Church feel like home to every person who walks through our doors. The environment we create goes far beyond big smiles and a friendly greeting - God uses connection teams to set the stage to reach more people and change lives.

COFFEE BAR HOST
Our team creates a warm, friendly environment while serving the church with drinks and snacks during or for around service times and special events.
Commitment: Once monthly
Time Frame: Sundays (1 hour)

GREETER TEAM
Our team welcomes people to Discovery at all doors and entrances. (front doors and the entrances to auditorium)
Commitment: Twice monthly
Time Frame: Sundays at 9:00 AM or 11:00AM (1.5 hours) or Wednesday Nights at 6:40-7:10

USHER TEAM
Our team assists people to their seats, facilitates the offering, and helps maintain a distraction free service environment
Commitment: Twice monthly
Time Frame: Sundays at 9:00 AM or 11:00AM (1.5 hours)

Senior Adult Ministry

Our Senior Adult Ministry meets every Wednesday at 10:30AM and needs help with cooking, worship, and more. Pastor Dede Outlaw will reach out to you directly with more information.
